Beaver Sleepover a good time had by all, but not much sleep for Leaders!
Spooks Party What a Night!! Loads of Fun
Harvest Festival The Harvest Festival at Siloam Baptist Chapel which was very well attended. A large contribution of fruit and veg was given to the OAP’s at the Hawthorns - all very gratefully received. The Beavers also enjoyed the stone rubbing before the service.
Medieval Ship On Sunday 27th September we visited the Medieval Ship in Newport. This was a great experience and a lot was learned about the ship. We even painted our own ship which will be on display!
Abergavenny Castle The Fun Day at Abergavenny castle was organised by Gwent County Scouts with around 300 Beavers from various groups in Gwent. All had a good day, joining in lots of activities and meeting other Beavers. We look forward to the same event next year with enthusiasm.
Beaver Sleepover at the Hall. 16 Beavers slept at the hall that night and since the date was 4th July the theme was American Independance Day. Food, games and activities were based on this theme. Camp fire on Saturday night was great fun with the Beavers singing with gusto!
Panto at the Congress Who were the loudest? Of course it was 1st West
District Sleepover at St Hildas Church Hall and yes we slept even though there were over 80 Beavers in total and Darzee was snoring.
District Camp at Caldicot Castle We slept in the Leisure Centre (who invented sensor lights, every time someone coughed or Darzee snored, the lights would come on?) but we spent two days in the Castle grounds, being the real Robin Hood with Bows and Arrows, climbing tall, tall walls, lighting fires, bungee sliding, grass skiing, crate stacking, dragon racing and punishing people in the camp stocks. Well done for volunteering to go in the stocks Jack!!
Beaver Fun Day at Tredegar House Wet, windy and so much fun. Who says you can’t have camp fire songs at 3 in the afternoon? Even the parents were joining in.
Beaver Swimming Gala Loud and good fun. Well done to all Beavers
1st West Pont Beavers Highland Games We were joined by the Cubs and a good time was had by all. We still have a chuckle, remembering the Parents doing the commando crawl through the mud...
Outdoor Camp Our first outside sleeping camp. We took over St Fagans museum of welsh life during the day and took over the neighbours with our rousing camp fire songs during the evening then off to our Bedouin encampment to go to sleep...
Group Camp We joined Cubs and Scouts at Botany Bay, near Tintern Abbey. We hiked down to HAPPA Horse Sanctuary (Darzee got chased by a horse, again!!!) walked over to Tintern Old Station to eat lunch and play on the activity playground and then hiked back to camp. Then we had to play Lumber Jacks, felling trees for camp fire, until Chil and Darzee found us and pointed out that we were only supposed to be collecting dead wood. Then we had a brill time swinging on the Scouts pioneer swing. Campfire, supper, sleep in tents, by which time it was very dark and very late. Sunday we helped the Cubs build bivis to sleep in, prepared our own "Sunday Lunch" on an open fire and generally had fun being "Children with no Electricity". Then it was time to go home. We were filthy and we smelt bad, but the big beaming smiles we had, when the parents came, made it all worthwhile.
Looking forward to the next Beaver Year....
